Thanksgiving Baked Ham RecipeFriday, November 14th, 2008 | 10:22 am |

Since Thanksgiving is around the corner I thought I would post my absolute favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving - HAM!
I am extremely picky about how I like my ham and hardly anyone ever cooks it “right” (or long enough) for me. I like it to where it’s falling off the bone - and I DO NOT like it sliced or spiral hams. I think sliced and spiral ham is disgusting. I like to just pull however much I want directly off the ham - so it’s in like shreds, if that makes sense? So, here is how my mom cooks ham - my FAVORITE way
BAKED HAM COOKED THE “RIGHT” WAY!
1 - 4 pound (approx) - Petit Jean Ham (the best kind in my opinion!)
1 Stick of Butter At Room tempt (or margarine, but I prefer real butter)
2 tbslp Brown Sugar
1/2 cup water
If the ham is frozen, let thaw in refrigerator until completed thawed. Pre-heat oven to 300F. Place thawed ham in a large roasting pan. Rub the stick of butter over the top and sides of ham, in creases, folds, etc. Sprinkle the top of the ham with brown sugar. Pour the water in the pan around the ham. Place foil over the top of the pan (try to position it where it won’t sit on the top of the ham - but if it does, that’s okay). Bake in oven at 300F for approx. 4 hours +/-. Remove the foil for the last 30 minutes to let the ham brown on top.
If you are some sort of crazy person (only kidding!) and you don’t like your ham cooked as well as I do, then just bake to your satisfaction. If you bake it as long as I like it, it is nearly impossible to have “sliced” ham because it is so tender and just falls off the bone. Yummeh!

If I had a nickel for every time my husband has told me he wants an XBox 360 for Christmas this year, well, I would actually be able to afford one. For those of you who can afford one and would like to find out more about the XBox 360 before you buy it, check out the XBox 360 Buying Guide.
The Xbox 360 Buying Guide on ShopWiki gives you reasons to buy one, reasons to wait before buying one, and everything you need to know about the 360. ShopWiki is not only loaded with great information about the 360, it also features online stores where you can buy one (and it’s accessories) at the best price! If you’re like me and you like to “dress” everything up so it doesn’t look so blah, then the XBox 360 Faceplates would be a perfect gift to go along with the XBox 360 console or to give to someone who already has the console.
ShopWiki also lists some stores with a good selection and great prices on XBox 360 Wireless Controllers. If I ever DO end up buying Jeremy an XBox 360 like he wants me to, I will be buying the Pink XBox 360 Wireless Controller for myself!

I Have No Idea…Monday, November 10th, 2008 | 9:38 am |

What in the hell I want to do with my life. From the time I was a Junior in high school until a couple of months ago I was dead set on being a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). It was my dream job; however, it takes sooo long to actually get there. To be a CRNA, it takes at least 6 years plus other requirements (though you do start out at $140,000 a year around where I’m from). But here’s the thing that I started thinking about that has put me off: What if I don’t get in to CRNA school? Before I could apply for CRNA school I would have to be a Registered Nurse (RN). I DO NOT want to be an RN. I would have to be one for a year or so before getting in to CRNA school but that is fine - I could totally handle that. But if I didn’t get in to CRNA school I would be stuck as an RN - or I would just have to change my major and re-do college… again, which would be a total waste of 4+ years the first time. I don’t want to go back to college until I know what I want to be so I don’t waste time and money on a major I might want to change later.
My husband, Jeremy, called me last night and told me he finally shot a deer. WOO-HOO. That means we are going to have tons of deer meat sitting in our freezer - great. I hate deer meat… it grosses me out. He has been at the field the past week but they got a 4-day weekend for Veterans Day and he drove to Northwest Arkansas to go hunting with his dad. He is heading back up to Kansas tonight to go back to the field and then they will be there until around the 21st, and I will be heading back up there around then too.
